Class L Fire

The ISO 3941:2026 standard introduces Class L, a dedicated fire category for lithium-ion batteries. These fires—common in smartphones, laptops, EVs, e-bikes, scooters, and energy storage systems—are driven by thermal runaway, where a failing cell produces extreme heat, flammable and toxic gases, and can quickly spread to neighboring cells, often reigniting after flames appear out.

Traditional extinguishers, such as water-based or powder agents, may not safely control these incidents. Class L provides a global framework for identifying and managing lithium-ion fire risks, guiding risk assessments, emergency planning, firefighter training, and specialized protection strategies, including cooling, containment, and targeted suppression tools.

Solutions like the Combat Fluorine Free Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Extinguisher address these challenges. This versatile, eco-friendly 5-in-1 extinguisher handles Class A, B, F, and lithium-ion fires, and is safe for live electrical equipment up to 1000V. Its biodegradable, fluorine-free agent cools batteries, helps prevent thermal runaway and re-ignition, and is proven to extinguish up to 600Wh lithium-ion batteries (tested under NTA 8133:2021). Certified under EN3, SS EN3, and TÜV SÜD PSB, it’s ideal for homes, workplaces, EV charging areas, and e-mobility facilities.

The rise of Class L underscores the importance of prevention, awareness, and the right tools. Organizations and individuals alike should stay informed, adopt safe practices, and equip themselves with tested solutions to effectively manage lithium-ion fire risks.

Lingjack - NEA Licence Number : WDL-26-02-0008

We are pleased to announce that Lingjack is now officially licensed by the National Environment Agency (NEA) to collect and dispose of fire extinguishers in Singapore.

The GWDF licensing regime covers fire suppressant cylinders/tanks such as portable fire extinguishers, and not fire suppression systems. These portable fire extinguishers (comes in cylinders or tanks) typically use suppressant agents like CO₂ or dry powder to extinguish smaller fires, unlike fire suppression systems which are used to detect, extinguish, and prevent the spread of fire.

With this NEA certification, our customers can be assured of compliant, safe, and environmentally responsible disposal services aligned with NEA regulatory standards.

This initiative is also part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability. Through proper collection, recycling, and responsible disposal of fire extinguishers, we support environmental protection by promoting the recycle and reuse of materials wherever possible. By managing fire extinguisher waste in accordance with NEA regulatory requirements, we help our customers reduce environmental impact while contributing to a more sustainable future.
